The dark knight returns comic.

The Dark Knight Review With a record of over 314.2 million in its first 10 days of its release, The Dark Knight is set to be one of the most pleasing films to have come out in the last decade. This behemoth of a movie has already broken the New Midnight, Opening Weekend, and I-Max Record. Director Christopher Nolan and his crew really out did themselves in every way imaginable by creating this extraordinary piece of film. This movie goes beyond its limitations as an ordinary PG-13 comic book superhero movie.

Let me start off by stating that this is the darkest, most intense Batman film to have ever been released into the public eye. Not only is it dark, but its packed with multiple well thought out interlocking plots that actually take you beyond what you've ever seen before. The movie portrays the lives of three main characters, Batman (Christian Bale) Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) and The Joker (Heath Ledger. In the film, the crime bosses of Gotham city become more aware on how to deal with their troubles with the Batman by night, but they face new challenges during the day with the new District Attorney Harvey Dent. Mean while, The Joker promises the crime organization that killing the Batman is the only way they will be able to keep their business going on for good.

Being a lengthy movie, running at almost two and a half hours, it keeps you locked in suspense and curiosity, wondering what is going to happen next to the individual characters within the story. The cinematography itself is out standing with certain sections of the film being shot in the highest resolution known as I-Max. Most modern movies these days consist of overdone CGI with infinite scenes behind a green screen. The Dark Knight veers off from all that showing its audience that a great movie does not have to be completely over taken by the world of computer-generated imagery.

Coming into more focus with the actors, this film would have not been what it was if it wasn't for its extraordinary cast. Christian Bale pulled off yet again another outstanding performance, reprising his role as the masked vigilante Batman. Another great addition to the new film was actor Aaron Eckhart with his amazing performance as the charismatic District Attorney, Harvey Dent. Eckhart goes deep into the portrayal of his character as he turns from a good hearted man of Gotham to an emotionally distressed, cheated thug known as Two-Face. Along side these actors comes a man that shocked the entire world with his performance as the violent, comical, homicidal maniac known as The Joker. Actor Heath Ledger dominated his role in The Dark Knight, leaving audiences all across the world with dropped jaws and complete satisfaction. Every moment Heath Ledgers character appears in the story, the film takes a whole new level of intensity and seriousness. Unlike Jack Nicolson's portrayal of The Joker in the 1989 film, Heath Ledger brings a more sinister, no holds bar type of character, who's message throughout the entire film becomes very clear as the story unravels. Also in the film are actors Michael Caine, new comer Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman.

Overall this movie definitely lived up to the hype. It was not only a great comic-book superhero movie, but an overwhelming thriller, crime drama that will for the most part be tattooed into the lives of all who watched it. This film has all the elements that classifies it as one of the greatest movies ever made in the history of film making. The Nolan brothers along side story writer David S. Goyer redefined the movie watching experience by a the longest yard and for that this film deserves an outstanding (11 out of 10) Alex Llanio.
